This evergreen grows to 30 to 40 feet tall and 15 to 20 feet wide and is noted for its dense, pyramidal form. the thick, leathery, evergreen, glossy dark green leaves with copper-brown undersides and its large, fragrant, cup-shaped white flowers up to 8 inches in diameter bloom in late spring, with sparse continued flowering throughout the summer months. Birds love the attractive red fruits that develop in cone shaped clusters late in the season. Handles temperatures as cold as -20°F.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing upright to 30-40 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide, Brackens Brown Magnolia is ideal for use in evergreen privacy screen plantings, as a focal point specimen, to frame in the corners of tall homes or other structures, or as espalier (trained to grow against a wall) on tall, open walls. A fine addition to fragrance, bird and wildlife gardens, cut flower gardens and cottage gardens.
