Description

An easy-to-grow North American native that has everything we desire in a grape, 'Canadice' is self-pollinating, which means you only need one to produce fruit, is easy to grow and cold hardy to USDA Zone 5a (-20F), and it produces scrumptious seedless red grapes that are great for fresh eating or to make jellies, jams, juice and wine! The grapes begin to ripen in August and hold on the vine well for picking through September. High-quality, very sweet flavored fruits on strong, vigorous and disease resistant vines with highly attractive foliage for outstanding texture in the landscape make Canadice a fine selection for growing on arbors, pergolas, fences and other structures that provide support for its vines to twine around. A variety introduced and licensed by Cornell University.

NOTE: As with all of our other plants and trees, all of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to 20 feet high and spreading equally as far, the Canadice Seedless Grape is ideal for use in the sunny edible landscape growing on fences, arbors, pergolas, posts and other structures its vines can twine around or tendrils cling to.

Suggested Spacing:  10 to 20 feet apart on fences

Growing Preferences

Fox grapes, such as 'Canadice', are very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average or better fertility. They prefer a deep, loamy, humus-rich soil and all the sun you can give them. In fact, the more sun the sweeter the fruit. That said, light shade is tolerated and vines will still produce fruit.
