Description

This is the spiral topiary version of the Carolina Sapphire Cypress, also called the Arizona Cypress. It features beautiful silvery mint-green foliage that provides unique year-round color and texture in the landscape. It can be grown in the ground or large pots, 18 inches or more in diameter, and is best used as a focal point specimen. Two can be used to frame and accentuate an entrance.

Landscape & Garden Uses

The Carolina Sapphire Cypress Spiral Topiary is ideal as a focal point specimen in sunny landscape borders or home foundation plantings. Two can be used to frame an entryway. It is a fine addition to conifer gardens, topiary gardens, formal gardens, and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  Best as a specimen or two can frame an entrance

Growing Preferences

The Carolina Cypress is tolerant of a wide range of soils, even clay, preferring moist,well-drained soil of average fertility and plenty of sunshine. It will tolerate light shade, but plants that are in full to mostly sun are much fuller. It is exceptionally drought tolerant when established in the ground. Container plants will require closer monitoring for moisture, providing water when the top 2 inches of the soil is dry. When growing in a container, choose a pot with a drainage hole(s) at the bottom. We suggest lining the pot's interior with a porous landscape fabric to prevent these holes from becoming clogged with roots. Fill the container with bagged potting soil or a 50/50 mixture of potting soil and potting mix. Requires two trimmings per year to maintain a tight poodle tier form.
