Description

A vigorous evergreen flowering vine that will grow or climb 10 feet or more in a relatively short period of time to cover fences, arbors, arches, mailboxes, posts, trellises and many other structures, Carolina Jasmine Vine, also called Carolina Jessamine, produces an abundance of very fragrant, trumpet-shaped, bright-yellow flowers in late winter to early spring. The lustrous dark green foliage develops a purple cast in winter.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12 feet or more in length, and 2 to 4 feet wide, Carolina Jasmine is a ideal for use to climb along the top of fences, on a trellis, on a mailbox, over an arbor or any other structure that might benefit from or support the vine. It can also be useful as a ground cover for slopes or banks where it will sprawl and naturalize or to climb into smaller trees where early flowering is especially noticeable. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, yellow theme gardens and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  3 to 6 feet apart on fences

Growing Preferences

Carolina Jasmine is very easy to grow. It tolerates a wide range of soils, however is also exceptionally drought tolerant. It prefers a moist, well-drained soil of average fertility. We have it growing in sunny and partially shaded sites and it does equally as well in both exposures.
