Description

A smaller-scale Catmint perfect for smaller garden spaces, 'Cat's Pajamas' forms a rounded mound of long and dark flower stems that bloom from the soil line all the way to the tips of stems! The lavender-blue flowers are densely packed along the stems and appear earlier than other catmints beginning in late spring to early summer and continuing to late summer or early fall. When the flowers have gone past peak the rose-purple calyxes remain for continued color. You might be happy to know that deer and rabbits turn there nose up to catmint but the butterflies, hummingbirds and other beneficial pollinators will thank you for planting this one!

When the stems of catmint plants are broken they release an aroma that attract cats, hence the name.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12 to 14” tall and 18 to 20” wide, Cat’s Pajamas Catmint is ideal for use as an accent, in grouping or mass plantings, or as a border along walkways. Also nice as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in pots, planters or other containers. Plant it near patios, decks, porches and other outdoor living areas where the fragrance and the pretty flowers can be enjoyed from close up. A natural choice for herb gardens and a fine addition to coastal areas, fragrance gardens, blue theme gardens and rock gardens.

Growing Preferences

Cat’s Pajamas Catmint is easy to grow in most any somewhat loose and moist to somewhat dry soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun. Plants will tolerate some shade but foliage won't be as dense. Grows well in full sun to part shade. It will tolerate dry periods, but flowers best with a moist soil. Does not like constantly soggy or wet soil.
