Description

Very attractive, adaptable and long-lived, Coral Reef is our favorite of all sedums. Also called Chinese Sedum or Fish Scale Sedum, you'll find this one growing all over our gardens as a border or groundcover in sunny to partially shaded areas and dry or consistently moist soils. Growing 2 to 3 inches tall and spreading to form a very dense mat, the fish scale-shape succulent leaves are bright green during the warm season and turn to attractive bronze shades during the cool season. During summer, clusters of star-shaped flowers appear atop the foliage as an extra-added attraction. Excellent as a spiller in container gardens or to form a dense carpet in garden beds.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 2 to 3 inches tall and spreading to 18 or more inches wide, Coral Reef Sedum is ideal for use as a groundcover plant or as a border along walkways and paths or around patios. Very nice around rocks and boulders or spilling over walls. Also serves nicely as a soil cover or spiller plant in container gardens. A fine addition to rock gardens and succulent gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18 inches apart for mass planting

Growing Preferences

Exceptionally adaptable, Coral Reef Sedum is very easy to grow. In our gardens, it has thrived in lightly moist to dry or even consistently moist soils, which is unusual for a Sedum. In dry, arid climates it will appreciate occasional watering during extended dry periods. It performs equally as well in full or part shade. We suggest at least 4 hours of direct sunlight for best overall performance.
