Description
Winner of the 2016 Hosta of the Year Award, 'Curly Fries' is a very unique Hosta prized for its arching "fireworks" like mound of lance-shaped, extremely rippled golden leaves that resemble "curly fries"...but we wouldn't suggest eating them:-) In early to mid summer lavender flowers top the mound. At only 10 inches high and maybe 16 inches wide, Curly Fires is perfect for small garden spaces and containers. Sure to be a conversation piece in the garden, plant this little gem around patios and sitting areas or in the border along paths and walkways where its cuteness can be enjoyed from up close. Handles direct sun in the morning and late afternoon and evening hours. The more sun the brighter the foliage!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing only 6 to 8 inches tall and maybe 15 to 18 inches wide, the Curly Fries Hosta is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and containers or in groupings or in the borders around patios and along walkways and paths. A fine addition to miniature gardens, mixed hosta gardens, hummingbird gardens, yellow theme gardens and woodland gardens.
Growing Preferences
The Curly Fries Hosta Lily is easy to grow in most any moist but well drained soil of average fertility and shade or part shade. The more sun this one gets the brighter the foliage will be. Direct morning and evening sun are fine but do provide some shade or filtered sun during the mid afternoon hours. Hot, direct afternoon sun can scald the leaves, especially in warmer climates. Care and maintenance are minimal.
