Description
'D.D. Blanchard' is a magnificent evergreen Southern Magnolia with large dark green leaves and rusty undersides on an upright, pyramidal form. It has the ability to maintain a straight central trunk that allows it to be grown full to the ground or be pruned into tree form with a visible trunk. All grown up D. D. Blanchard can reach a height of up to 75 feet tall and 30 feet wide but is usually seen at 50 feet or lower at maturity. Very large and highly fragrant cup-shaped flowers of 8 inches in diameter will fill the garden with lemony-sweet aroma during summer.
If you don't have room for a large grow such as 'D. D. Blanchard' check out its smaller, half-sized cousins the 'Little Gem' Magnolia or 'Teddy Bear' Magnolia.
