Description
Dik's Weeping Lawson Cypress is a beautiful North American native coniferous evergreen tree with a tall, narrow, gracefully weeping form, 25 to 35 feet tall and 65 to 10 feet wide when fully grown. Its cascading branches are cloaked in soft, feathery, fern-like, dark blue-green foliage. Perfect for adding a distinctive vertical accent in the landscape where space might be limited but height is desired, or in spaced groupings where space allows. It is easy to grow in moist but well-drained soils and full sun or part shade, but it prefers mild summer climates and may suffer in hot and humid climates.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 30 feet tall and 10 feet wide at its base, Dik's Weeping Lawson Cypress is ideal for a tall vertical accent in small spaces or in spaced groupings at about 15 feet apart, where space allows. It is also suitable for framing corners of tall homes and other buildings and is a fine addition to conifer and rock gardens.
Spacing: 15 feet apart for space between trees
Growing Preferences
Dik's Weeping Lawson Cypress is easy to grow in well-drained soils of average fertility and full sun to light shade. It performs best with six or more hours of sunlight daily. Constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic, so ensure the soil in the planting area is well-draining. Once established, it has moderate drought tolerance and would only need supplemental irrigation during prolonged periods of summer drought. No pruning is required.
