Description

This is the single trunk tree form topiary version of the Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress, a smaller growing version of the ever-popular Gold Mop Cypress. Sure to be an eye-catcher, this evergreen displays stunning, golden yellow, shaggy, thread-like foliage on a rounded to pyramidal canopy of pendulous branches sitting atop a single trunk. Its smaller stature to maybe 5 to 6 feet tall, including the trunk, and 4 to 5 feet wide makes it a better fit for smaller garden spaces and containers that are perfect for situating on patios, decks and around other outdoor sitting and living spaces. A fine accent tree in home foundation plantings. It rarely if ever requires pruning however responds well to it for size control or shaping purposes.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 5 to 6 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, depending on pruning, the Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress Topiary Tree is ideal for use as an exceptionally colorful and soft-textured focal point specimen in sunny to partially shaded landscape beds or home foundation plantings. A fine accent in home foundation plantings and great candidate for containers that can be situated on patios, decks and around other outdoor sitting and living spaces. A fine addition to conifer gardens, yellow theme gardens, Asian theme gardens, formal gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  best as specimen or use two to frame an entryway

Growing Preferences

The Dwarf Golden Threadleaf Cypress Topiary Tree is exceptionally hardy and easy to grow in containers or the ground. It prefers a moist to lightly moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. The more sun the brighter the foliage color. We suggest at least 4 hours of direct sunlight per day. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic. Avoid overwatering, providing only enough water to maintain a damp to moist soil. Established plants growing in the ground are exceptionally drought tolerant and would only need supplemental irrigation during prolonged periods of hot and dry weather. Plants growing in container will require more attention to watering. No pruning required though can be trimmed one or two times per year for shaping purposes or to control size.
