Description
Named after the beautiful and sensual character Thomas Hardy created in his classic novel, 'A Return of the Native', from spring through fall the Eustacia Vye English Shrub Rose displays abundant clusters of exceptionally pretty, soft pink blooms that begin as shallow cups opening to full rosettes revealing a burst of glowing apricot petals at the center. Held aloft on red-tinged stems, the 90-petaled blooms exude a strong and delicious fruity fragrance. As new flowers emerge the older flowers soften in color as they age, providing a multi-hue effect with many shades of pink on the same shrub at the same time. A very healthy variety that makes a strong, upright shrub to 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide, Eustacia Vye is a good fit for small garden spaces and containers that can be situated on or around patios and other outdoor sitting areas where the pretty flowers and wonderful fragrance can be enjoyed from close up. As with her character in the novel, the Eustacia Vye Rose is an alluring standout in the garden.

Growing 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide, the Eustacia Vye English Shrub Rose is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings or as a hedge in sunny to partially shaded borders and garden beds. Her smaller stature makes for a good fit in containers that can be situated on or around patios, decks and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. A fine addition to cottage gardens, pink theme gardens, antique and old-fashioned gardens, and fragrance and sensory gardens.
Growing Preferences
The Eustacia Vye English Shrub Rose is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average or better fertility and full sun or partial shade for the best flowering. As with all other roses, morning sun is a must to dry dew from the leaves, however this one will do fine with some filtered sun during the afternoon hours. Flowering will be best if the plant receives at least 5 hours of direct sun during the day.
