Description
French Pink Pussy Willow is a large growing deciduous shrub or small tree that is sure to be a conversation piece in your landscape, and in your home. You can't grow it indoors, but budded branches can be cut in spring to create a magnificent floral display in your favorite vase. In early spring upward-facing, fuzzy, cat paw-like 1-inch silvery-pink catkins appear up and down the bare branches. The open white catkins (flowers) are one of the first pollen and nectar sources for pollinating insects. As the flowers fade, dark green broad elliptic to oblong leaves (to 3- inches long) will emerge and remain until the first heavy frost in fall.
The image below shows the flowering stages from tight bud to catkins and finally to fully open floer.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 10 to 15 feet tall and 10 to 12 feet wide, the French Pink Pussy Willow can be grown naturally as a large shrub or lower branches can be removed to form a small tree. Ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in flowering shrub borders. A fine addition to cut flower gardens, pink them gardens and cottage gardens.
Growing Preferences

Full sun is preferred however plants will tolerate some light shade. Does not require pruning, however responds well to it for shaping purposes. Prune immediately after flowering.
