Description

Considered by some to be the "most golden of all junipers" the Gold Lace Juniper displays vibrant yellow lacy new foliage that's sure to light up the landscape while also providing a unique soft texture. Often considered a derivative of the large growing Pfitzer Juniper, Gold Lace keeps a lower profile typically staying under 4 feet in height and 7 feet in spread. Exceptionally drought tolerant and easy to grow, this soft-textured beauty makes for a very colorful accent, border, or erosion controller on sunny slopes.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 3 to 4 feet tall and 6 to 7 feet wide, the Gold Lace Juniper is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings or as a border in landscape borders, or mass planted on embankments. Also a very nice textural accent in home foundation plantings or as a low, natural hedge. If your the creative type and handy with pruners, it also is a great candidate for pom pom topiary. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens, yellow theme gardens, and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Growing Preferences

Gold Lace Juniper is exceptionally easy to grow in most any average, well-drained soil and full sun, however will tolerate some light shade. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot or other harmful plant diseases. Very low-maintenance requiring little if any pruning when given room to grow.
