Description

We just can't get enough Golden Creeping Jenny in our gardens! Though it's a super-fast grower that quickly fills a space, its soft vines make Creeping Jenny very easy to manage and keep in bounds. The bright golden yellow foliage is a wonderful contrast to other plants in the garden or in pots. Looks especially nice around plants with red, burgundy, purple or dark green foliage. In cooler climates the foliage turns orange during winter. Though it doesn't look like it would be cold hardy, Creeping Jenny can handle temperatures down to 30 degrees below zero Fahrenheit!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Because it's so colorful, quickly fills a space, and is low maintenance, we use Creeping Jenny extensively in our gardens as a groundcover, border, spiller over walls, or as an underplanting for shrubs and trees. Perfect for use between widely-spaced stepping stones. It's also ideal for planting in pots or hanging baskets, where it spills over the edges. It tolerates wet soils so we even have it growing in pots situated in the margins of our garden pond. A fine addition to shade gardens, yellow theme gardens, woodland and Asian theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18 to 24 inches apart for mass plantings

Growing Preferences

Creeping Jenny will grow in a wide range of moist to damp soils of average to even low fertility. In our gardens it does best in part shade though will tolerate full sun with adequate moisture. With 4 to 5 hours of sun per day it holds its golden color throughout the season. In shade the foliage color is chartreuse to lime green. USDA Zones 4a-9b Find Your Zone >
