Description
Electric gentian-blue flowers like you've never seen before cover the low sprawling carpet of dark green, needle like, evergreen foliage from mid to late spring to mid to late summer. An alpine plant, It is ideal for use in rock gardens, on slopes, cascading over retaining walls, around boulders and in containers. A sun-lover in cooler climates but will prefer some filtered sun or shade in the afternoon hours in hot climates.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing about 6 to 12 inches tall with a spread of 24 inches or more over time, Grace Ward Lithodora is ideal for use as a low border or groundcover plant in rock gardens, on slopes, cascading over retaining walls, around boulders and in containers. Also nice as an underplanting for small trees and as a crevice plant between boulders provided there's adequate soil. A wonderful addition to mixed container gardens where it will spill over the edges. A fine addition to cottage, rock and blue color theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 24-30" apart for mass plantings or border

Growing Preferences
Grace Ward Lithodora is easy to grow in a moist but well-drained acidic soil and grows well in full sun to part shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of sunlight per day for best flowering and appreciates some afternoon shade or filtered sun in hot climates. As it ages, the long, prostrate stems become woody but respond very well to pruning after the flowering cycle is over.
