Description

This is the staked topiary form of the Green Mound Juniper, also known as the Japanese Garden Juniper. It naturally grows as spreading groundcover with a distinctive mound at the center, however we've trained these to grow upwards on a single trunk allowing its branches to beautifully cascade downwards like a fountain. Attractive mint-green foliage holds its color throughout all seasons. An excellent low-maintenance topiary ideal as a focal point specimen in garden beds or in a pot, planter or other container.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to around 3 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide, unless trained to grow taller and wider, the staked Green Mound Juniper is ideal for use as a focal point specimen in garden beds or in containers. A fine addition to conifer gardens, Asian theme gardens, rock gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  Best as a focal point specimen; Space 5 feet for space between plants in groupings

Growing Preferences

The Green Mound Juniper is easy to grow in most any well-drained soil of average to low fertility. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot and other harmful plant diseases. Best in full sun however will tolerate some light shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. No pruning is necessary however responds well to it for shaping purposes.
