Description

A very vigorous climbing vine, as a climber, Hall's Hardy Honeysuckle can twine up to 30 feet high depending on the height of the support structure, and is perhaps the most popular of the honeysuckles that are used as groundcovers. From late spring to frost it produces abundant clusters of two-lipped, pure white flowers that age to yellow for a two-tone effect. The flowers stand out nicely against the oval-shaped dark green foliage, which is evergreen in warmer climates and semi deciduous in colder climates (Zones 4-7). The butterflies and hummingbirds will certainly appreciate the flowers. Because this one can climb so high, we suggest keeping it away from a tree or large shrub that you don't what it to grow on.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing up to 30 feet tall depending on the height of the support structure, the Hall's Hardy Honeysuckle is ideal for growing on fences, arbors, pergolas, poles, large trellises and other structures its vines can twine around. It is not a good one for the mailbox! A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, cottage gardens, fragrance gardens and white or yellow theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  3 to 6 feet apart to cover fences or other structures

Growing Preferences

The Hall's Hardy Honeysuckle is easily grown in a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to light shade. The vine produces more flowers and is more vigorous in full sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Keep this vine away from trees you don't want it to latch onto and climb. Quite drought tolerant when established and hardy in USDA Zones 4a-9b  Find Your Zone
