Description

A more rapid growing Camellia with an upright dense and narrow habit 6 to 10 feet tall and maybe 4 to 6 feet wide, depending on pruning, 'Isaribi' features small but cute and abundant fragrant semi-double flowers with bubblegum soft pink petals surrounding a prominent column of cream filaments with yellow anthers. The flowers stand out beautiful against the evergreen deep green leaves in late winter lasting through early spring. A rare and hard-to-find true garden jewel that is perfect for those tight spots and small garden spaces.

Landscape & Garden Uses

The Isaribi Camellia is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings or as a natural hedge or background in small garden spaces where wider growing camellias won't fit. Especially nice to frame corners or as espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) or situated between windows in home foundation plants. A fine addition to Camellia gardens, fragrance gardens, pink theme gardens, Asian gardens and cottage gardens.

Spacing:  4' for solid hedge; 8'+ for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.
