Description
The Jewel of the Desert series is a breeding breakthrough for Ice Plants, delivering the same exceptional drought tolerance with even greater cold and heat hardiness (Zones 5 to 10) but with continuous bloom from mid spring to frost! 'Jewel of Desert Peridot' features abundant, daisy-like, quilled, bicolor flowers with yellow iridescent petals surrounding a prominent white eye zone. This sun loving evergreen forms a dense and lush carpet of succulent foliage 4 to 6 inches high spreading to 10 inches or more. Thriving in dry, sandy, or gravelly soil, this hardy perennial succulent requires little to no watering, which makes it a fine low-maintenance selection as a low border or groundcover or in groupings, to fill gaps and crevices between stones and boulders, or as a soil cover in container gardens.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading 10 inches or more wide, the Jewel of the Desert Peridot Yellow Ice Plant is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces or combination container gardens or in groupings or massed along the borders of walkways and paths, patios and garden beds. Very nice around rocks and boulders. A fine addition to succulent and cactus gardens, rock gardens, yellow theme gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 8 inches apart for mass planting

Growing Preferences
When planted right and in the right spot, Ice Plant is very easy to grow. It requires a well-drained lightly moist to dry soil and is very drought tolerant when established. Will tolerate rainy periods but constantly soggy or wet soil is a killer. It performs best in full sun but will tolerate part shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for best overall performance.
