Description

A revolutionary bigleaf Hydrangea, Kimono is a consistent rebloomer featuring abundant large clusters of alluring picotee flowers thoughought the season. The petals of each flower are an antique white with a prominent wine-red border. The striking flowers are excellent for cutting and use in fresh or dired flower arrangements. Deep green foliage makes this beauty even more captivating. At only 2 to 3 feet tall and equally as wide, Kimono is a good fit as an accent in small garden spaces or containers that can be situated on patios, porches decks and around other outdoor sitting areas where the flowers can be enjoyed from close up. or in groupings or as a low hedge where space allows.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to 2 to 3 feet tall and equally as wide, the Kimono Hydrangea is ideal for use as an accent, in small groupings, or as a colorful hedge in partially shaded home foundation plantings and landscape borders. It is also highly suitable for containers. It is a fine addition to Hydrangea gardens, red theme gardens, cottage gardens and cut flower gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  2.5  feet apart for solid hedges or borders;  5 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

The Kimono Hydrangea is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and part shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun for best flowering. Morning and evening sun are fine with shade or filtered sun in the afternoon.

Note:  Kimono is an everblooming Hydrangea macrophylla species that produces its flowers from buds formed on both new and old wood. Therefore, prune as you would other reblooming hydrangea varieties such as the Endless Summer Hydrangea.
