Description

Kit Kat Catmint is a floriferous dwarf cultivar that forms a spreading mound of attractive, scalloped, fragrant gray-green leaves. Abundant spikes of blue flowers held above the 12 to 18-inch high and 18 to 24-inch wide foliage mound appear in mid to late spring and continue coming over a long period throughout the summer and into fall. A perfect choice for the front of sunny borders or in containers that you and the butterflies, hummingbirds, and beneficial pollinators will appreciate.

Interesting Note
When the stems of Nepeta are broken they release an aroma that cats are attracted to, hence the common name Catmint.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12-18 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, Kit Kat Catmint is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers, or grouped or as a border in garden beds and along paths and walkways, or around patios and other outdoor living spaces. Plant it near patios, decks, porches, and other outdoor living areas where the fragrance and the pretty flowers can be enjoyed from close up. A natural choice for herb gardens and a fine addition to coastal areas, fragrance gardens, blue theme gardens, rock gardens, and butterfly and beneficial pollinator gardens.

Growing Preferences

Kit Kat Catmint is easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil with average fertility and full sun or partial shade. It will grow in full sun in northern areas with mild summer climates. In southern areas with hot summers, it will appreciate some filtered sun or shade during the afternoon hours when the heat and sunlight are most intense. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. It will tolerate dry periods but flowers best with moist soil. It does not like constantly soggy or wet soil.
