Description
One of a few hardy ornamental grasses that will grow in quite a bit of shade as well as full sun, Korean Feather Reed Grass is an absolutely beautiful and captivating specimen plant or grouping. It forms a fountain-like mound to 3 feet tall and wide from which rise abundant stems bearing soft and feathery pink-tinted plumes in fall. The plumes are excellent for cutting and use in floral arrangements. Both its foliage and flower plumes sway in the slightest of breezes, adding graceful and calming movement in the garden. A tough but picturesque beauty that thrives in heat to USDA Zone 9 and cold to -30F in Zone 4, and is drought tolerant when established. A perfect addition to Asian and Zen theme gardens.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 4 feet tall in flower and 3 feet wide, Korean Feather Reed Grass is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and home foundation plantings or in stunning groupings in larger landscape spaces. A fine addition to ornamental grass gardens, pink theme gardens, Asian and Zen gardens and bird and wildlife gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 30 inches apart for solid groupings; 5 feet or more for space between plants

Growing Preferences
Korean Feather Reed Grass is easy to grow when planted right, and in the right spot. It adapts to most soil types, even well draining clay, preferring a consistently moist soil during the first growing season but after that takes care of itself. It grows well in full sun or part shade, actually preferring some afternoon shade or filtered sun in hot climates. Trim its foliage back to the ground in late winter, before new growth begins to emerge. Avoid fertilizing in the heat of summer.
