Description

An entrancingly different Hosta, the deep green, heart-shaped, wavy-edged leaves of Lakeside Paisley Print look as though they've been painted with distinct markings in cream, yellow and/or light green that resemble feathers placed on the center rib. In summer, very cute 4-petaled, star-shape soft lavender flowers with darker lavender-purple striping are perched atop tall stalks that rise well above the foliage clump. The hummingbirds and butterflies will thank you for the flowers!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a dense mound 10 to 12 inches tall and up to 20 to 24 inches wide, Lakeside Paisley Print Hosta Lily is ideal for use as an accent, in groupings, massed as a groundcover in landscape borders, or as a border along walkways and paths. Lakeside Paisley Print has been so reliable and such a strong performer for us that we have no problem at all suggesting it for use in home foundation plantings. It is perfect under large shade trees, decks, covered porches and any other shady location as well as areas that get more sun. Also very nice in pots, planters and other containers and a fine addition to mixed hosta gardens, hummingbird gardens, and woodland gardens.

Growing Preferences

Lakeside Paisely Print Hosta Lily is easy to grow in most any moist but well drained soil of average fertility and shade or mostly sun. In the Deep South plants will appreciate filtered sun or shade during the warmest hours of summer afternoons. No pruning is necessary though spent flower stems can be removed by cutting them off at the base.
