Description

Excellent for any dish or drink calling for a lemon flavor, Lemon Creeping Thyme is a quick spreader perfect for use as a groundcover or border in garden beds or as a soil cover in container gardens. It forms an undulating carpet of tiny, glossy green leaves that can be used fresh or dried as a flavoring for salads, soups, stews, sauces, and meat or fish dishes. Whorls of small lilac-pink flowers appear at the tops of stems in early to mid summer as a treat for beneficial pollinators.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a low mound to only 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading 18 inches or more, Lemon Creeping Thyme is ideal for use as a groundcover or border front in gardens beds and along walks and pathways. Also sa nice filler plant in container gardens. A fine addition to herb gardens, culinary gardens, rock gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs).

Suggested Spacing:  18 inches for mass plantings or solid borders

Growing Preferences

When planted right and in the right spot, Lemon Creeping Thyme is easy to grow. It grows best in light, lightly moist to dry, well-drained soil and full sun. A little shade is okay. Will tolerate rainy periods but constantly soggy or wet soil is a killer. So make sure to plant in a well-drained site.
