Description

Perfect for smaller gardens and in containers, Little Galaxy Agapanthus also known as Lily of the Nile, is about a foot shorter than its parent but is equally as cold and heat hardy (USDA Zones 6-11). A prolific bloomer, it features abundant "little galaxies" of  beautiful softer shade blue flowers that rise above attractive clumps of bright green strap-like leaves from mid summer into fall. The Latin name for this lovely flower is agapanthus which means "love flower"...and will love this flower!

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to only 2 to 2.5 feet tall and maybe as wide, Little Galaxy Agapanthus is ideal for use in garden beds or containers. Great as an accent or in small grouping in small garden spaces and home foundation plantings, or as a solo or centerpiece in container gardens. Outstanding in larger groupings or massed in sunny landscape borders. A fine addition to perennial gardens, rock gardens, blue theme gardens, and tropical-look gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  2 feet apart for mass plantings; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Agapanthus is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. The more sun the better for best flowering. When established, plants are quite drought tolerant requiring supplemental irrigation only during prolonged periods of severe drought. Constantly soggy or wet soils are problematic. Lime Agapanthus every year to keep them blooming year after year!
