Description

'Little Mister' shares the same great attributes as its sister 'Little Missy', but grows two times the size to 4 feet high and wide. That said, it responds very well to trimming for formal hedges and geometrical shapes, such as globes, squares, and pyramids, so it can easily be maintained at half its normal mature size in landscape beds or containers. It has deep green foliage and his highly resistant to blight. Its growth rate is slow enough that it does not outgrow the landscape, but fast enough to be used as a primary plant in many landscapes. Inconspicuous flowers in spring are fragrant. An extremely versatile shrub that's considered the hardiest of boxwoods, and you might be happy to know the deer turn their nose up at it.

Landscape & Garden Uses

With a mature height of 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide, or a height of 30 inches and width of 30 inches with occasional trimming, Little Mister Boxwood is the perfect selection for a low to mid-sized formal or natural hedge in landscape borders or home foundation plantings. It can also be used on the ground or in containers to frame an entrance or as a specimen in smaller garden spaces. It is a fine addition to formal gardens and fragrance gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  30 to 36 inches apart for solid hedges; 60 inches or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Little Mister Boxwood is easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil and thrives in full sun or partial shade. We recommend at least 4 hours of sunlight per day. Once established, it exhibits good drought tolerance but may appreciate occasional supplemental watering during prolonged summer droughts. As with many other ornamental plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. It responds very well to trimming or shearing for formal hedges or geometric shapes, such as globes, squares, or pyramids.
