Like its sisters, Miss Molly and Miss Ruby, 'Miss Violet' is a compact Butterfly Bush with brilliant flower color and attractive silvery-green foliage. It forms a rounded shrub, 4 to 5 feet tall and wide, with eye-catching, fragrant, purple-violet flowers that stand out beautifully against the lighter foliage. The butterflies and hummingbirds will flock to the flowers all summer long and well into fall. Miss Violet's smaller size suits small and medium-sized gardens, as well as medium-sized containers with a diameter of 14 inches or more. You might be happy to know that she's a seedless, non-invasive variety that thrives in the heat, and the deer and rabbits won't botherher at all!

Note: As mentioned, Buddleia 'Miss Violet' has been approved as a seedless butterfly bush cultivar and is considered sterile, producing fewer than 2% viable seeds, so it will not spread. It is approved for sale in all states without restriction.

With a refined habit, growing in a rounded mound to only 4 to 5 feet tall and wide. MissViolet Butterfly Bush is well-suited for use in the ornamental landscape. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend her for use as an accent in home foundation plantings, or as a specimen, grouped, or as a natural hedge in sunny landscape and flowering shrub borders, and perennial gardens. Her smaller size lends itself well to use in large pots, planters, and other containers with a top diameter of 14 inches or more. She's a fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, fragrance gardens, cottage gardens, and purple-themed gardens. 

Suggested Spacing:  4' for solid hedges or mass plantings; 8' or more for space between plants

Miss Violet Butterfly Bush is exceptionally easy to grow in moist, well-drained soil with average to low fertility, and in full sun to partial shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day during the growing season for optimal flowering. As with so many other plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic. Deadheading of spent flowers isn't necessary, but it will encourage the production of more flowers.
