Description

If you love orange in the garden like we do, and are looking for an easy-to-grow perennial that will provide it over a long period, the Moab Sunset Coneflower is sure to please. It is a compact variety to maybe 2 feet tall and wide that features abundant flowers from early to mid summer all the way to frost in the fall. The large 4" diameter flowers display a skirt of orange petals surrounding a many-petaled reddish orange pom pom center with a dark eye. The flowers are perched atop sturdy stems that rise well above the foliage making them perfect for cutting and use in flower arrangements. The butterflies and hummingbirds will thank you for planting this one as well. Moab Sunsets smaller stature makes it an ideal choice for an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings in larger spaces. Amazing color and drought, deer, heat, humidity, and poor soil tolerant...what more can we ask for in a perennial?!

Landscape & Garden Uses

The Moab Sunset Coneflower is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or in groupings or as a border in perennial gardens and sunny woodland borders. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, wildflower gardens and orange theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  15 to 18 inches apart for groupings; 3 feet apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Moab Sunset Coneflower is very easy to grow. It is a highly adaptable plant that is tolerant of drought, heat, humidity and poor soil. It will grow in most any average soil that is moist to somewhat dry and well-drained. It flowers best in full sun but will also do well and bloom in part shade. We suggest a minimum of 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. Spent flowers can be removed through the long bloom season. That said, spent flowers/seed heads can be left on the plant for winter interest and to feed the birds.
