Description
A lush and lovely selection made at and released by the top-notch University of Pennsylvania’s Morris Arboretum, the Morris Blue Korean Pine pleases with beautiful color, texture, and form. Its upright pyramidal form is 15 to 20 feet tall and 7 to 9 feet wide at its base at maturity. It is clothed in bundles of long silver-blue needles with a distinctive curve that provides a soft, soothing appearance and feel in the landscape. Easy to grow, it is an outstanding specimen, grouping, or addition to privacy screen plantings in sunny landscapes and garden beds.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 20 feet tall 9 feet wide, the Morris Blue Korean Pine is an eye-catching beauty perfect for use as a focal point specimen, in groupings, or in privacy screens in the sunny landscape. It is also suitable to frame corners in home foundation plantings or large containers, but eventually, it would need to be transplanted into the landscape. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens, blue gardens, Asian gardens and wildlife gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 7 feet for screen plantings; 12 feet or more for space between trees
Growing Preferences
The Morris Blue Korean Pine is easy to grow in a damp to moist, well-drained soil of average fertility. As with many other conifers, constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic, leading to root rot or other harmful plant diseases. So make sure to plant this one in well-drained soil, whether in the ground or pots. Once established, water needs are lower when growing in the ground. In pots, soil moisture must be monitored more closely, especially during summer. When the top two inches of soil is dry, provide water.
