Description

The Proudberry Coralberry is a North American native deciduous flowering shrub anyone in USDA Zones 3 to 7 can easily grow and enjoy. In summer it features a profusion of bell-shaped soft-pink flowers the butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators will thank you for. Following the flowers is an equal and amazing profusion of bubblegum-pink colored round berries that will turn heads and capture the attention of many bird species as well who will feast on them through fall and winter. Attractive blue-green eucalyptus-like foliage through the season on arching branches contrasts beautifully with the berries, and berried branches are ideal for cutting and display in floral arrangements. Amazingly pretty yet tough, adaptable, and easy to grow in USDA Zones 3-7, Proudberry is a cheery accent in small garden spaces or containers or in groupings or as a natural and colorful hedge where space allows.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a rounded mound 3 to 4 feet tall and equally as wide, the Proudberry Coralberry is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and mixed flowering shrub borders or in groupings or as a natural hedge in sunny top partially shaded landscape and woodland borders. Also nice around patios, porches, decks and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the berries can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, pink theme gardens, wildlife gardens, native plant gardens and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  3 feet for solid hedges or groupings;  6 feet or more for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Proudberry Coralberry is very easy to grow in a wide range of soils preferring a moist but well-drained soil of average to even low fertility and full sun to part shade. For the best flower and berry production we suggest 4 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. Drought tolerant when established. No pruning necessary however responds well to it for size control or shaping purposes.
