Description

A very compact Catmint, 'Purrsian Blue' features an almost perfectly rounded mound of tiny grey-green leaves from which rise abundant and closely-spaced spikes of pretty, periwinkle-blue flowers that cover the foliage. It begins flowering in early summer and continues through yearly fall, so you won't have to worry about having enough color in your garden all season long, and the butterflies and beneficial pollinators will enjoy it as well. A low maintenance, drought tolerant, deer resistant, long blooming perennial that deserves a spot in every garden where it will grow! USDA Zones 3a-8b

When the stems of catmint plants are broken they release an aroma that attract cats, hence the name.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 14 to 18” tall and 18 to 30” wide, Purrsian Catmint is ideal for use as an accent, in grouping or mass plantings, or as a border along walkways. Also nice as a solo or mixed with other sun-loving plants in pots, planters or other containers. Plant it near patios, decks, porches and other outdoor living areas where the fragrance and the pretty flowers can be enjoyed from close up. A natural choice for herb gardens and a fine addition to coastal areas, fragrance gardens, blue theme gardens and rock gardens.

Growing Preferences

Purrsian Catmint is easy to grow in most any somewhat loose and moist to somewhat dry soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun. Plants will tolerate some shade but foliage won't be as dense. Grows well in full sun to part shade. It will tolerate dry periods, but flowers best with a moist soil. Does not like constantly soggy or wet soil.
