Description
The Sienna Sunset Arborvitae is a miniature selection featuring a dense, soft-textured sphere of glowing yellow-green foliage in spring and summer that turns golden in the fall and then to orange-bronze during the winter months. The best color comes with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. The sphere might reach 2 feet by 2 feet in size at 10 years of age. Extremely cold hardy to -40F and no pruning needed to maintain its dense form, Sienna Sunset is excellent for containers or as an accent or in groupings in small garden spaces.
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Sienna Sunset Arborvitae is ideal for use as a specimen in sunny small garden beds or containers, which can be situated on patios, decks and around other outdoor living spaces. A fine addition to conifer gardens, gold theme gardens, topiary gardens, miniature gardens, fairy gardens and formal gardens.
Suggested Spacing: Best as a specimen or in spaced groupings at 30 inches or more apart
Growing Preferences
The Sienna Sunset Arborvitae is very easy to grow in a moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun for best foliage color. As with most other evergreen conifers it does not like a constantly soggy or wet soil. Amend heavy clay soils with bagged top soil or other organic matter to ensure good drainage. Maintenance is minimal with no pruning required.
