A member of the Sugar Buzz Monarda Series, which were bred for vigor and disease resistance, 'Blue Moon' Bee Balm features abundant dazzling lavender-blue flowers perched atop sturdy, contrasting dark purple stems that rise just above the mound of attractive, mint-scented dark green foliage. The showy, crown-shaped, shaggy clusters of tubular, nectar-rich flowers will draw in hummingbirds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators and are also excellent for cutting and display in a vase or floral arrangement. You might be interested to know that the foliage has good mildew resistance and can be used in salads or herbal tea. Blue Moon is not finicky about soil type but prefers consistently moist, well-drained soil and plenty of sun. We suggest 4 hours or more of direct sunlight per day, the morning sun that will dry the dew from the leaves. Excellent for garden beds and containers and a must in hummingbird and beneficial pollinator gardens.
