Description

An extraordinary new Catmint from the United Kingdom that lives up to its name, 'Summer Magic' is an extremely free-flowering Nepeta grandiflora variety that blooms continuously from May to September in our gardens. The two-lipped dark lavender-blue flowers are born abundantly on long spiked clusters that rise to 18 inches in height. Compared to other catmints, Summer Magic has a much sturdier and stronger habit. The foliage never flops, even in the heaviest rainstorms, and never goes through that ugly mid summer phase. Excellent as an accent in smaller garden spaces or in groupings or as a border where space allows. Also a fine solo or accent in container gardens.

Growing to 18 inches tall and equally as wide, the Summer magic Catmint is ideal for use as an accent plant in smaller garden spaces or containers or in groupings or drifts or as a border in garden beds and landscape borders. Plant it near patios, decks, porches and other outdoor living areas where the the pretty blue flowers and the butterflies and hummingbirds they attract can be enjoyed from close up. A natural choice for herb and perennial gardens and a fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, coastal gardens, fragrance gardens, blue or purple theme gardens, cottage gardens, and rock gardens.

Growing Preferences

Summer Magic Catmint is easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight for best flowering. It will tolerate short dry periods, but prefers a moist, not soggy or wet, soil.
