Description

Sunrosa Roses are an exciting series from the Suntory Collection. Sunrosa Roses are beautiful, compact, bushy, and super heat and humidity tolerant that are ideal for use in smaller garden spaces and in pots and other containers. In our nursery and gardens the Sunrosa Roses have the longest flowering period of any other roses. The bloom continues almost non-stop throughout the season, even in the hottest part of summer. They need less pruning than typical shrub roses, and due to their high disease resistance, are very easy to care for.

A super heat and humidity tolerant and disease resistant rose, the Sunrosa Orange Delight Dwarf Shrub Rose produces an abundance of beautiful, fully double roses in color shades you’d find in a large hybrid tea rose. The petals blend from a peachy orange mango to bright yellow. In our gardens, the bush is almost always in bloom from spring to the first frost. Disease resistance here in central Georgia has been remarkably good.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Being dwarf, Sunrosa Roses are ideal for use in small to medium size garden spaces, and in pots, planters and other patio containers. In larger landscapes use them in groupings or mass plantings for vibrant splashes of season-long color, or as a front facing border in landscape beds. A fine addition to red theme color gardens, rose gardens and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18 inches apart for mass plantings; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Sunrosa Rose variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Requirements

Sunrosa Roses are exceptionally easy to grow in most any average, well-drained soils with medium moisture in full sun to part shade. Keep in mind that all roses require morning sun to dry the morning dew from their leaves, but will tolerate some afternoon shade. Sunrosa Roses do not require pruning, however will benefit from it. To keep your Sunrosa Rose full and bushy from year to year prune the branches back to about 4-6 inches above the ground in late winter or early spring. After this hard pruning, your Sunrosa Rose will quickly flush out and start blooming with the arrival of warmer spring temperatures. Deadheading spent flowers through the season is not necessary, however will encourage new buds and more flowers.
