Description
Thankfully discovered by Judith Tyler of Pine Knot Farms as a chance seedling, Sunshine Golden Creeping Veronica, what some folks call Creeping Speedwell, forms a spreading flat carpet of sunshine in the garden. At only an inch or so in height, its petite foliage is perfect for use to fill the gaps between stepping stones or as a groundcover in shrub beds and miniature gardens. Also nice for underplanting small trees such as Japanese maples. Though it is adored for its bright and cheery foliage, in late spring through early summer cute and tiny pearl-white flowers sitting just above the foliage adorn the plant. In cool-summer climates it will tolerate full sun but might appreciate some filtered sun or shade during the hottest part of the day in hot-summer climates.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 1 to 2 inches tall and spreading 12 inches or more wide, Sunshine Veronica is ideal for use to fill the gaps between stepping stones or as a low border or groundcover in perennial and shrub gardens. Also very nice as an underplanting for small trees such as Japanese maples. Bulbs plants will pop right through it in spring. We've even used it as a crevice filler around the boulders surrounding our garden pond and in our rock garden. It's not impressive as a stand alone in containers but makes for an excellent soil cover. A fine addition to cottage gardens, rock gardens, and yellow theme gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 12" apart for groundcover

Growing Preferences
Sunshine Creeping Veronica is easy to grow in a moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun or part shade. In hot-summer climates it will appreciate some shade or filtered sun during the hottest afternoon hours. It tends to prefer a consistently moist soil that is not allowed to completely dry out.
