Description

One of the easiest flowering perennials to grow in almost any area of the United States, 'Sweety' Goldenrod is a compact selection with a mounded habit that sports abundant sprays of showy lemon-yellow flowers over a long period. Flowers begin to emerge around August and continue all the way through October providing a late season food supply for butterflies, bees, birds and other beneficial pollinators. At 12 to18 inches tall and equally as wide this colorful late season beauty is perfect for smaller garden spaces and containers. This variety does not self sow.

PLEASE NOTE: Contrary to popular belief, Goldenrod (Solidago) does not cause allergies. It's pollen is sticky so does not blow in the wind. Bees and other beneficial pollinators transfer it from plant to plant. If you experience allergy symptoms during the fall it's most likely from ragweed, which blooms at about the same time as goldenrod.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to about 12 to 18 inches tall and equally as wide, Sweety Goldenrod is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and mixed container gardens and is truly breathtaking in groupings or mass plantings in sunny landscape or woodland borders and perennial gardens. A fine addition to butterfly, pollinator, cut flower, cottage, and yellow color theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18" apart for mass plantings; 3 feet apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Sweety Goldenrod is very easy to grow in most any well-drained but moist soil in full sun or part shade. Flowering will be heavier with more sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sun for best flowering.
