Description
A vigorous and easy-to-grow hybrid Tricyrtis, 'Tojen' Toad Lily is adored for its larger leaves, three times the size of other cultivars, and its abundant, exotic flowers. The leaves can be from 6 to 15 inches long! It forms an expansive, mounding 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide, topped from midsummer into fall with abundant clusters of orchid-like white flowers generously brushed with lavender on every other petal and a yellow throat. A lovely, tropical-looking addition to the shade garden, this is one of those captivating conversation pieces in the garden that will always have you looking forward to its bloom.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing up to 24 inches tall and 36 inches wide, the Tojen Toad Lily is ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in shady landscape, woodland, and perennial borders. It is also suitable for growing in pots, planters, and other containers. It looks right at home near garden ponds or other water features. Plant it near patios and other outdoor seating and living spaces where the flowers can be appreciated up close. A fine addition to butterfly gardens, container gardens, cottage gardens, perennial gardens, woodland gardens, purple theme gardens, and around water gardens.

Growing Preferences
Tojen Toad Lily is easy to grow in consistently moist but well-drained soil and partial to full shade, avoiding direct afternoon sun. It prefers a humusy, organically rich soil. Keep an eye on plants growing in containers and provide water if you see the foliage begin to wilt. Feed in spring and again in early summer with a slow-release flower food or natural or organic plant food.
