Description

A spectacular new introduction to the Magic Series, this is the single trunk tree form of the Twilight Magic Crape Myrtle, combining deep plum purple leaves with bright coral pink flowers for a stunning presence in the landscape. The dark foliage is a standout even with the tree is not in bloom. Even when not in flower, the dark foliage is handsome all on its own. An excellent alternative to purple leaf plum and Japanese maple. You'll be happy to know that this selection is resistant to powdery mildew, which can't be said for some dark leaf cultivars.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 15 to 20 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide, the Twilight Magic Crape Myrtle Tree is an ideal selection for landscape borders or large containers. because it grows taller than other varieties in the Magic Series it serves remarkably well as a focal point specimen in the sunny landscape or as an accent tree in home foundation plantings. A fine addition to pink theme gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  12 feet apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

The Twilight Magic Crape Myrtle is very easy to grow. It is not picky about soil type provided the soil is well-drained. A moist but well-drained soil of average fertility is preferred. Full sun is preferred and results in heavier flower production. Light shade is tolerated but flowering will be diminished in more shade. Has shown excellent resistance to powdery mildew and is quite drought tolerant when established.
