Parthenocissus quinquefolia 'Variegata' is the beautiful variegated version of our North American native Virginia Creeper Vine. Though it can climb high or spread wide like its parent, it is much less aggressive and, needless to say, much prettier. Its vines are clothed in lovely, palmate green leaves up to 6 inches long that are splashed in creamy white. With the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall, the foliage takes on shades of red, pink, white, and green all at once! Highly adaptable and very easy to grow almost anywhere (USDA Zones 3b-11), it will grow in full sun or full shade and most any type of acid or alkaline soil, handles occasional drought and wet conditions, is extremely cold and heat tolerant, and deer turn their nose up to it. Variegated Virginia Creeper is great as a climber of walls, tree trunks, and other structures it can cling to, as a spiller over walls, or as a large-space groundcover and erosion controller on sunny or shady slopes and embankments.

Variegated Virginia Creeper is very easy to grow in a most any moist but well-drained acid or alkaline soil of average fertility and full sun to heavy shade. While it doesn't like a constantly soggy soil, it handles occasional wet periods well and is moderately drought tolerant when established only requiring an occasional drink during extended periods of drought. Responds well to pruning for training purposes, size control, and to keep in bounds.
