Description
With an amazingly beautiful flower and loads of them, we fell in love with the White Rosebud Azalea at first sight, just like we did when we first laid eyes on the original Pink Rosebud. A profusion of very full double flowers with ruffled white petals surrounding a chartreuse throat look more like a rose than an azalea, hence the name. The buds are white as well, also resembling rose buds. New lime-green leaves age to very deep green, which provides the perfect backdrop for the gorgeous flowers. A semi-dwarf shrub that grows maybe 2 to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide over time.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 2 to 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide, the White Rosebud Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen in smaller garden spaces or in groupings, mass plantings, or as a low hedge in landscape and flowering shrub borders and home foundation plantings. Butterflies love the flowers, and blooming branches serve very well for cutting to create stunning indoor floral arrangements. A fine addition to white theme gardens, azalea/rhododendron gardens, cut flower gardens, woodland gardens and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 2 to 3 feet apart for solid hedges; 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Evergreen Azaleas are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. They prefer a moist but well-drained and acidic soil that is rich in organic matter and part sun. Morning sun with shade or filtered sun in the afternoon is ideal. Evening sun is fine. Moderate drought tolerance when established.
