Description
This is the rare and unique staked topiary version of the All Gold Golden Pacific Juniper. It is usually a ground-hugging coniferous evergreen plant but has been trained to grow up a single stake so that its long runners cascade downwards like a waterfall. It resembles the 'Blue Pacific' Juniper but has screaming yellow new foliage. Its bright needles appear in clusters of three along the trailing branches, forming a dense and shaggy look. The stunning color and texture make it a fine specimen in the ground or pots where its branches will spill over the container's edge if allowed. The best and brightest foliage color comes with 6 hours or more of direct sunlight, so situate it in a sunny garden bed or home foundation planting. Excellent in patio and rock gardens or near a garden pond!
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 2 to 3 feet tall and 18 to 24 inches wide, the All Gold Golden Pacific Juniper is ideal for use as an accent specimen in sunny garden beds, home foundation plantings, or containers that can be situated on or around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. Its color and texture contrast beautifully with red, purple, or other dark-leaved plants and trees, such as Japanese maples and Loropetalums. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens, yellow theme gardens, and the Xeriscape (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 5 feet or more apart for spaced groupings
Growing Preferences
The All Gold Golden Pacific Juniper is exceptionally easy to grow in moist but well-drained soil and full to mostly sun. Foliage color is more intense with in more sun, so we suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Too much shade results in diminished foliage density and color. When growing in the ground, it has high drought tolerance when established. Constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot or other harmful plant diseases. Very low maintenance, it requires very little pruning except to remove a stray or damaged branch.
