Description

A very hardy perennial groundcover perfect to light up a shady to partly sunny spot, Beacon Silver Lamium is a vigorous grower that forms a carpet of stunning silvery-white leaves in garden beds or to cascade over the pots rim in container gardens. As an extra-added bonus, in spring to early summer clusters of cute, deep lavender flowers are perched just above and contrast beautifully with the foliage.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 4 to 6 inches tall and spreading up to 36 inches wide to form a solid patch, Beacons Silver Lamium can be grown in garden beds or as a solo or in combination with other shade-loving plants in container gardens. It is ideal for use as a border along paths and walkways, as a groundcover to fill in around shrubs in home foundation plantings and woodland areas, as an underplanting for shrubs and trees, tucked around boulders in rock gardens, or as an accent and spiller plant in combination container gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  12 to 15 inches apart for mass plantings and solid borders

Growing Preferences

Beacons Silver Lamium is very easy to grow in most any most but well-drained soil of average fertility and part shade. With consistently moist soil it will tolerate full sun, even in the South, but we think it looks and performs its best with some shade, especially in the afternoons. As with many other plants, a constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. Established plants growing in shade have moderate drought tolerance. It's soft stems make it very easy to clip to keep in bounds.
