The best foliage color and heaviest flower and fruit production will occur with 6 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. soils preferring a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. Responds well to pruning if you'd like to keep the plant shorter and/or more narrow. In hot-summer climates, to keep the roots cool and soil moist, we suggest a 3 to 4 inch layer of straw or shredded wood mulch.
