As with other burning bush, this one has the same handsome deep green foliage throughout the warm season that turns a brilliant florescent red with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. Abundant red berries late in fall and attractive bark, with corky "wings," provides interest in the landscape during the cool seasons. The ultimate height and spread is under your control. You can let it grow naturally or prune for shaping purposes. Burning Bush is very easy to grow and makes a wonderful accent in the landscape or as a patio tree.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing naturally from 6 to 10 feet tall and equally as wide (depending on pruning), the Burning Bush Tree is ideal for use as a colorful specimen in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. it is also easy to grow in pots, planters and other containers of 18 inch diameter or more. A fine addition to rock gardens, red theme gardens, and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Suggested Spacing: 10 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
When planted right and in the right spot, the Burning Bush Tree is very easy to grow. When established, it is exceptionally low maintenance and drought tolerant. It adapts to a wide range of soil types provided they are well-drained. It will grow in part shade however displays the best fall foliage color in full to mostly sun. We suggest at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. When given room to grow to its mature size there is no pruning required. That said, it responds well to pruning for size control and shaping purposes.
