Description

Bred by Hans Hachmann in 1987, 'Canzonetta' is still among the most popular Azalea varieties in Europe, and for good reasons. It is a dwarf evergreen forming a compact mound 12 to 15 inches tall spreading to 3 feet wide over time. In late spring to early summer it produces LOADS of beautiful, rosy reddish pink, teacup shaped flowers that nearly cover and contrast nicely with the deep rich green glossy foliage that turns to a deep purple-bronze during winter. A very reliable variety in full sun to part shade, its low and spreading growth habit makes Canzonetta a fine selection as a specimen in small garden spaces or border or groundcover in larger spaces. This is one that'll have you and the butterflies and hummingbirds always looking forward to its glorious spring bloom.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a low mound 12 to15 inches tall and 30 to 36 inches wide at maturity, the Canzonetta Azalea is ideal for use as a specimen in small garden spaces and containers 14 inches or more in diameter., or in groupings, mass plantings, or as a border along sunny to partially shaded paths and walkways in landscape and woodland borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to Asian-theme gardens, pink theme gardens, Azalea gardens, cottage gardens, and woodland gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  2.5 feet apart for solid hedges; 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
