Description

One of the smallest of the dwarf globe-shaped Arborvitae, even smaller than 'Hetz Midget', 'Danica, features bright emerald green foliage that turns to blue-green during winter on a dense, rounded shrub to only 2 feet tall and wide. Its smaller stature makes it a good fit as an accent or low hedge in smaller garden spaces and home foundation plantings or in containers. A versatile, dwarf, globe-shaped conifer featuring bright emerald green foliage that turns blue-green in winter. No need for pruning though light shearing can be done for shaping purposes.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing to only 2 feet tall and wide, the Danica Globe Arborvitae is great for use as an accent or low hedge in smaller garden spaces or as a solo or centerpiece in containers or in groupings or as a border in larger spaces. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens and formal gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  18 inches apart for solid hedges; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Arborvitae are very easy to grow and care for. They are adaptable to many soil types including red clay and like full sun to part shade. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and don't like an overly dry site. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. Maintenance is minimal with very little if any pruning ever required, though responds well to light trimming for shaping purposes.
