Description

What Lil' Bang Darling Clementine lacks in size, it more than makes up for with tremendous flower power. From late spring through early fall, flower stems rise several inches above the 10" high by 12" wide mound bearing skyward-facing glowing flowers that transition in color as they age, displaying glowing shades of orange, gold, and yellow, all simultaneously on the same plant. Each flower is adorned with a golden value at the center. Carefree, disease resistant, and long blooming when grown in well-drained soil and six or more hours of direct sunlight daily, Darling Clementine is a cheery addition to perennial borders or containers that can be situated on patios and around other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the pretty flowers and butterflies feeding can be enjoyed from close up.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 8 to 10 inches tall and a foot or so wide, the Darling Clementine Coreopsis is ideal for an accent or grouping in sunny garden beds, along walks and paths, or in containers situated on or around patios and other outdoor living spaces where the flowers and butterflies feeding can be enjoyed from up close. It is a fine addition to butterfly gardens, orange-theme gardens, cottage gardens, perennial gardens, wildflower gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, and wildlife gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  12 inches apart for solid groupings or borders; 2 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Darling Clementine Coreopsis is easy to grow in moist but well-drained soil with average fertility and six or more hours of sunlight daily. It has high drought tolerance when established. Avoid planting it where the soil is constantly wet or waterlogged. Heavy, dense clay soils should be amended with bagged topsoil or other organic matter to improve drainage.
