Description

Exceptionally unique and sure to draw attention as a focal point specimen in the landscape or in pots, 'Divinely Blue' is a dwarf Deodar Cedar featuring bright blue foliage on a very attractive spreading mound of "reaching arms" and cascading branchlets. This is what we call the "standard" form,  which means "single trunk tree." A mature specimen is truly a sight to behold.

Please Note: This Divinely Blue Deodar Cedar is a "standard,' which means ""single trunk tee form."

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 4 to 5 feet tall and wide wide in 10 years, the Divinely Blue Deodar Cedar is most effective when used as a focal point specimen or planted on either side to accentuate an entryway. Whether in the ground, or in a container or planter it makes for a fine addition to conifer or rock garden or beside a boulder in the landscape. Looks really nice around a garden pond. Make sure not to overcrowd this beauty with larger growing shrubs!

Note:  For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 6a, where this Deodar Cedar variety is not reliably winter hardy, you'll be happy to know you can grow it in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.

Growing Preferences

When planted right, and in the right spot, the Divinely Blue Deodar Cedar is very easy to grow. It adapts to most soil types of average fertility, preferring a moist well drained soil. Plants are exceptionally drought tolerant when established. As with so many other conifers, constantly soggy soil or standing water is problematic. Just keep in mind that whether growing in the ground or in pots, good drainage is essential. As with other Deodar Cedars, Divinely Blue likes as much sun as you can give it. Some shade is tolerated however plants won't be as full. Maintenance is minimal to none.
