Dons Variegated Native Azalea - Rhododendron - 1 Gallon Pot
Description
There are very few native azaleas with variegated leaves, and with its bright green leaves with creamy marbled flecks, Don's Variegated is one of them. But its the bright flower clusters of this Rhododendron austrinum variety that really steals the show. Don's Variegated is one of the first of the native azaleas to show color in the spring, usually starting to flower in late March and early April. It produces abundant trusses of large, fragrant, bright orange flowers borne before and while the leaves are emerging in spring. Tolerating heavy frost, drought, and hot and humid conditions, Don's Variegated is a perfect selection for gardens in the South.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet wide, Don's Variegated Native Azalea is a ideal for use as a specimen or in groupings in partially shaded landscape borders, home foundation plants and woodland borders. Also nice in pots, planters and other containers. A fine addition to fragrance gardens, Azalea gardens, orange theme gardens, woodland gardens, native plant gardens, and cottage gardens.
